About The Dogs Treats


This wasn't supposed to be a business.

It started with a sick dog and a label I couldn't stop reading.

Our first dog together got sick from store-bought treats. When I started looking into what was actually in them, I was horrified. Fillers, preservatives, ingredients I couldn't pronounce and none of it was necessary. It was just cheap.

That sent me down a rabbit hole. Dogs have a more sophisticated palate than humans. Their sense of smell is extraordinary. And we were feeding them the equivalent of fast food and wondering why they turned their noses up at it.

So I started making treats with real ingredients. Real fruit. Real protein. Nothing that didn't belong.

The fussy dogs were the first ones to respond. The ones who'd refused everything. Turns out they weren't fussy — they just had standards we hadn't met yet.

That's what The Dogs Treats is built on. Real ingredients, made fresh, for dogs who deserve better than what the pet food industry decided was good enough.



THE DISCOVERY:

The thing that changed everything was scent.

Most commercial treats don't smell like much. They're produced in bulk, they sit in warehouses, and by the time they reach your dog, the scent profile is flat. Dogs decide whether they want something based on scent before they ever taste it. If the treat doesn't smell interesting, a discerning dog doesn't bother.

We started infusing real fruit into the meat before dehydrating. Twenty-four hours, minimum. That changes everything about how the treat smells, which changes eve

The first dog who tried it didn't walk away.


THE BRAND:

The Dogs Treats is a small-batch, handmade treat business based on the Central Coast of NSW.

Every batch is made to order. Nothing sits on a shelf. No fillers. No preservatives. No shortcuts.

We're not trying to be the cheapest option. We're trying to be the one that actually works.


THE RANGE:

Seven fruit-infused jerky flavours, chicken, beef, kangaroo, plus occasion cakes and the Fussy Pup Club monthly subscription.

In Wagga Wagga, occasion cakes and cookies are made fresh by our baking partner Sarah at Riverina Treats.


THE FUSSY PUP CLUB:

The Fussy Pup Club is our monthly subscription, built for owners of dogs who are genuinely hard to please. Curated, rotated, and made fresh every month.

We also have a Taste Team: a founding panel of dogs who test every new flavour before it reaches the store. They have opinions. We listen to them.


A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER:

Building something real takes longer than you think and goes wrong more than once.

There was a point early on where I nearly didn't continue. Someone I trusted with the brand used it in a way I hadn't agreed to, and the fallout shook my confidence in the whole thing.

I didn't quit.

Not because it was easy. Because I believed in what the product does, and because the dogs don't lie. When a dog who has refused a hundred treats takes one of ours and comes back for more, that tells you everything you need to know.

That's what we're building. Treats that actually work, for dogs who've been written off as fussy.

They're not fussy. The treat just wasn't good enough.
